Meltblown Line and Hygiene Nonwoven Machinery for Absorbent Products

Fine-fibre meltblown capability engineered and installed for absorbent hygiene manufacturers.

Meltblown Line and Hygiene Nonwoven Machinery for Absorbent Products

Meltblown is the fine-fibre partner to spunbond in the hygiene world. On its own it gives you the barrier and fluid-management properties absorbent products depend on, and as the middle layer in SMS it provides the resistance that keeps a diaper cuff working. A dedicated meltblown line is a precise piece of hygiene nonwoven machinery, and it rewards careful engineering more than almost anything else we build.

Why meltblown is demanding

Meltblown fibres are formed by blowing hot air across a polymer stream at the die, drawing the filaments down to a fraction of the diameter of spunbond. That fineness is what gives the fabric its barrier behaviour, but it also makes the process fussy. Air temperature, air volume and die maintenance all have to sit in a narrow band or you get shot, roping or uneven basis weight. We build the line so those variables stay controllable through a full production run, not just for a demo.

For hygiene use the target is usually a light, uniform web that manages fluid without adding stiffness. That means the collector, quench and web-handling sections have to be as well sorted as the die itself, because a beautifully formed web can still be ruined between the die and the winder.

Meltblown Line and Hygiene Nonwoven Machinery for Absorbent Products - Why meltblown is demanding

Fitting meltblown into a hygiene plant

A meltblown line can run standalone to make barrier media, or it can be integrated as the S in an SMS line for coverstock. Which one a customer needs depends on their product mix, and we work that out during the design stage rather than pushing a single configuration. Either way the aim is a stable line that a plant operator, not a process PhD, can run shift after shift.

Downstream, the web still needs handling, trimming and winding, and we tie those sections in with the same cutters and controls used across our other hygiene lines. Keeping the peripheral equipment consistent across a plant simplifies operator training and spares stocking, which matters more than it sounds when a factory is running several lines at once.

Delivered and commissioned by KSG

Meltblown is the kind of line where remote support alone is not enough at start-up, so we install and commission it with our own engineers on site. Thirty years of building nonwoven machinery and installations in more than 40 countries mean we have seen most of what a new site can throw at a sensitive line, and we plan for it. The customer gets one partner from line design through the first good rolls.

If the line does not perform at commissioning, that is on us to fix, because we designed and built it. For a hygiene manufacturer that single line of accountability is usually the difference between a start-up that slips for months and one that hits schedule.

If you need meltblown capability, whether a standalone barrier line or a meltblown station inside an SMS line, KSG can engineer, build and install the complete system. Send us your target products and output and we will propose a line design with a firm delivery and commissioning plan.
