Nonwoven Equipment for Agricultural Fabric Producers
Agricultural nonwovens have their own set of demands. The fabric goes onto a field or into a greenhouse, so it has to breathe, hold up under UV and irrigation, and still cost little enough that a grower will lay it down and eventually till it under. Producing that fabric economically comes down to the line behind it. Most growers-turned-producers we deal with are running polypropylene or a PP/PET blend, sometimes with a share of recycled fibre to keep material cost down. That mix drives the front of the line. Bale opening, blending and fine opening have to give the carding machine a clean, evenly conditioned feed, because any lumps or unblended clusters show up later as thin spots in a wide crop cover web. We size the opening and blending section to the fibre you actually buy, not a generic recipe.
The web-forming heart of an agricultural line is carding plus cross lapping. A single-cylinder card handles lighter crop cover grades well; heavier mulch and nursery mats usually want a doubling card or a card feeding an HS cross lapper so you can stack layers and reach the 80 to 300 gsm range without pushing the card past its comfortable throughput. After forming, bonding is where the two product families split: thermal or resin bonding for the light covers, needle punching for the tougher mats. Both bonding routes come off the same well-fed forming section, which is why buyers usually start the specification there.
Line speed is a conversation, not a headline number. A lightweight crop cover at low web weight will run fast; a dense needled nursery mat runs slower because the loom and the dryer set the pace. We plan the line around your product mix and the changeover reality, since most agricultural producers make several grades and cannot afford long downtime every time they switch. Winders, side trimming and slitting are matched to the roll widths your market buys, whether that is narrow rolls for hand laying or full-width goods for machine application.
