Vertical Hopper
Tall in-feed hopper that steadies fiber density ahead of the card.

The vertical hopper is a tall, enclosed chamber that sits between fiber opening and the carding machine. Its role is to hold, regulate and feed fiber at a consistent density and distribution, so the card sees a steady load and the web that follows stays uniform.
Fiber enters the upper box and passes through a rotary damper that meters the flow downward. As the stock compresses, beater pins on the rotating cylinder open it a second time to restore loft and break up clumps. An optical sensor watches fiber density in the vibrator room and adjusts the feed rate automatically to keep it even.
On the Auto Damper type, incoming fiber is traversed left and right across the upper box before it drops, which spreads it evenly across the working width. The operation panel is built so operators can adjust settings with little training.
In technical drawings the machine reads top to bottom: an upper receiving box, a middle section with the rotary damper, optical sensor area and beater cylinder, and a lower discharge section. Those drawings are worth studying before install to plan floor space, safety clearances and maintenance access.
