Rotary Damper

A rotary damper controls rotational movement by adding resistance, usually through a viscous fluid. In a carding line that means rotating components start, run and stop gradually instead of snapping into motion, which keeps fiber flow steady and product quality consistent.

In practice the damper is often paired with sensors and side packing so the line can adjust fiber flow automatically, avoid blockages and keep running. Because it responds to changing material conditions on the fly, it helps hold both machine behaviour and finished web quality steady.

Choosing one comes down to the required torque, operating speed, temperature range and working environment. Routine checks for wear and correct fluid viscosity keep it performing predictably and head off unexpected failures.
